Ouch!

My legs hurt!  A lot!  Like I don't want to walk, especially down stairs!  And I am really dreading tomorrow!  Will I be able to walk tomorrow???

Okay, enough with the exclamation points :)  Yesterday I had an initial meeting with a trainer at the gym.  I was hoping it was to learn the equipment, but instead it was a sales pitch.  We had sat through one of these before, a long time ago, with a different trainer.  I walked away from that one with a bad taste and no desire to hire him.  This time around I walked away saying maybe for a little while it would be a good thing to consider.  Especially since both of us can share the trainer, switching on and off each session.  So I set up another appointment to hopefully learn the equipment today.  Instead we went through a set, what a workout would be if we hired her.  It was the hardest exercise that I think I have ever done!  We did one set of leg presses, then two other exercises.  Then she broke the news to me that normally we would do that again... two more times.  Thankfully she took pity on me and we moved on to other equipment instead.  After just those three things, I seriously felt like I couldn't walk or stand, that I might fall over and maybe possibly be sick to my stomach.  Not a pleasant feeling!  But I made it through and twenty-five minutes later we were done.

Tim is meeting with her for the first time tonight to see if she is a good fit for him too.  If so, we might just hire her for a month or so to kick-start the getting in shape (besides round!).  Yes, despite my complaining, I am actually willing to go back and get my behind kicked again... just maybe not tomorrow....

Let the weightloss commence...

A few weeks ago at church, we were getting AJ out of her car seat when another couple came up and started making small talk.  We were all waiting to go inside the gym for snacks between services.  The wife was asking about AJ, how old she was, remarking on her red hair [we get this a lot!] when she asked me if we knew what we were having next.  Tim just answered with something general like whatever God gives us or something like that, but I knew at that moment that she thought I was pregnant.  I tried to pretend it was some sign from above that maybe this month actually worked, but I know now it was not a sign of that... nope.  She just thought I was pregnant.  And after catching a side image of myself in the mirror yesterday, I can see why.  I was holding AJ in front of me, facing me, and saw it... my tummy sticking out like other people when they are 5 or 6 months along.  Yes, I wasn't standing up straight, and I certainly wasn't sucking it in... but still...

So today I made a phone call.  Far too long ago for me to want to admit, we signed up for a gym membership.  We were able to get a special deal if we signed up with a three year commitment, something that Tim especially really wanted to do, so we would actually go.  Yeah, that didn't happen.  We went for a few weeks and then needed to take a week of for some reason or another.  Then 1 turned into 2 and 2 into 3 and so on.  So today, I finally made a phone call.  I set up an appointment with a trainer to learn the gym equipment so I can actually use it.  The good news is that we didn't lose a long period of time at the gym.  Thankfully one perk to the three year commitment is that if we didn't go for 2 weeks or more, that would be tacked onto the end of the 3 years.  So in theory, I have about 2 weeks less than 3 years still in my membership.  And bonus... they have a childcare area!  So I really don't have any good excuses!

So Monday morning, I will head off... I'll try to let you know how things are progressing.  I would love to lose 40-50 pounds, but would be more than happy with 20 by summer.

Slow and Steady Wins the Race

At least that's what my aunt told me today.

Today was Day 5 of exercise... yep, I have actually gotten up early [3 out of 5 days we were out of bed before 5:00 am!] and exercised 5 days in a row!

Day 1 - Jogging/Walking with Samson our dog.  He didn't like the sprinklers we went by.  Then my foot started hurting pretty badly.  I attributed it to my really old shoes.  So I purchased new ones : ) and only paid $12 [because I returned other ones that made up most of the cost of the new ones]

Day 2 - Foot really hurts... going to try riding my bike instead.  Turns out, the main road near me is really scary to ride on.  I have never realized just how much faith cyclists have to have in drivers, to not hit them as they fly by!

Day 3 - Rode my bike again, but took a different path.  Much better!  However, for the first few blocks, my hiney was complaining... until my legs started to complain more and so I finally gave up and sat on the seat... my hiney got over it!

Day 4 - Went walking with my hubby.  Before we headed into what was going to be separate directions [he is much faster than me... much!], he mentioned that he missed walking with me.  So we grabbed both dogs this time and walked down to the park.  The dogs loved it and I enjoyed holding my hubby's hand while we walked and talked.

Day 5 - Attempted running/jogging again.  And this time only walked once for 1/2 a block and only one more time to cross the busy road.  Yay!  But it turns out I jog really, really [like seriously!] slow... pretty sure even a tortoise could have passed me today.

So we'll see how long we keep this up.  But so far so good, and my soreness is slowly starting to go away too!

Monday's Post on Tuesday

I could use some excuse like Monday was a holiday... since the mail takes a day off, so I did too, but really I was just busy having fun and didn't feel like taking a break to post.  Especially since nobody reads this yet (haven't shared it with family or friends yet because not many people know we are trying to get pregnant).

So in regards to weight loss and such, since I said I would post every Monday [oops] I didn't take a picture of me this week with my swimsuit on.  I figured it might look so close to the same as last week that there wasn't much point in doing that.  But I did weigh myself, much to my dismay... 174 just like last week.  I feel I have an excuse though, because it's that lovely time of the month, the time I dread since it means we are still not expecting [starting my second month of clomid today].

However, on the exercise front, I am SO proud of myself!  I actually exercised 6 days last week:
Monday - Run/walk - 1min run, 2 min walk rinse and repeat for 30 minutes
Tuesday - Rollerblade with hubby - about 30 minutes?
Wednesday - Run/walk - same as Monday
Thursday - Walk with dogs - 40 minutes at a good pace
Friday - 30 Day Shred - 30 minutes total... nearly die at the end!
Saturday - 30 Day Shred - Again... Wow... can't walk the rest of the weekend!

So I am very proud of myself there.  This week has started off fairly well.  Yesterday I ran/walked but this time it was 2 min running, 1 min walking... and I actually made it the entire 30 minutes!  I have yet to do anything today, but rest assured, I will get some exercise in!

So that's about all for now.  Have a wonderful day!

I just about died!

So my middle sis [Sandi] sent out an email earlier two weeks ago, asking if we wanted to join her in a running endeavor.  It's an eight week program designed to get you from not running at all to running for 30 minutes straight.  Over the course of the eight weeks, they expect that 6 days out of the week you will run/walk for 30 minutes alternating on a set schedule of how many minutes to do each.  For example, day 1 is Run 1 minute, walk 2 minutes, repeat 10 times.

Oh.my.goodness.

I nearly died.

I guess I didn't realize how out of shape I really am... well, I knew I was out of shape, but I still thought that 1 minute of running wouldn't be that bad...

I was horribly mistaken!

But, in an effort to feel much better about myself, to feel sexier for my hubby, to get in better shape before I get pregnant (which by the way doesn't look like it'll be this month), I will press on.

So if you see me red faced, exhausted and running pathetically slow for the next 7 weeks 5 days, feel free to throw water on me and encourage me to press on.

In other news, while I am doing this 8 week challenge, I'm going to post weekly pictures of me in my swimsuit and record my weight.  Hopefully at the end of the 8 weeks I will be able to see a difference!  That is my goal!

So today I weigh 174 in my swimsuit, and here are today's starting pictures... sorry to subject you to these!

Ugg, but oh well... time to face reality of how I look.  I will look better in 8 weeks!  I know I will!
