Workin' my tail off

And apparently it's working, because last I checked, I didn't have a tail : )

This semester at KVCC is winding down.  Tonight I am giving my final in Trig and the AutoCAD class finished last week.  I have LOVED my Trig class.  They have challenged me and really made me know my stuff, but I have loved it... seriously!  And they apparently responded well during my observation from the head guy, so much so that he's letting me play with math students again, and even giving me one class this summer and two in the fall!

Ahh... I love college level teaching!

And I am having another opportunity to realize how much I am thankful to be out of the high school level teaching.  Yet another math teacher needs a long-term sub for her maternity leave, but this time at a much better school!  While they are still high schoolers, they are reasonably respectful, mostly passing, English (not ghetto) speaking students and what a difference it makes.  While I'm only a few days in, and with only 31 days left to go, I think this will go fairly well.

And on top of it, next week I start teaching a summer drafting course 3 nights a week.  It's one I did last summer, so I just have to review my material.  But otherwise should be good to go.

And I'll be pulling in two paychecks for a short while!  Very helpful for later this summer where my pay is significantly cut because of only one low-level math class.

Okay, so this was a boring post... sorry!   I'll try to put some pictures up later and maybe see if something more interesting comes to mind...

But to end on a funny quote...
This evening while one student was taking his exam, he stood up... I assumed he was going to ask me a question so I approached and asked what he needed...
"Oh nothing," he replied, "my leg just fell off..."
Yeah... not fell asleep, but fell off... not something you hear every day!
He is a war veteran who lost his leg in the war and has a prosthetic leg.  Makes more sense when you know that part :)
