I'm Flying with the Flylady!

A long time ago, I tried to follow the Flylady's methods of cleaning, organizing, and just generally taking care of my house, family and myself. While I didn't necessarily do everything I was supposed to, or follow all of the guidelines and reminders, I did better. Then I quit my job teaching and had lots more time to do things around the house. With the added time, the general upkeep wasn't as bad, so I slowly dropped the habits I had learned.

That is now a thing of the past. The long term sub position for teaching high school math that I accepted feels like it has taken every waking moment that wasn't already consumed with something else.... and thus, housework dropped to the bottom of the bottom of the list. And it very quickly became evident too!

So last night, I started over. I set the timer for 10 minutes and went to work on my sewing room. 15 minutes later, it looked so much better! I can actually sew at my sewing table, and I know where things are for Tastefully Simple. Boxes are gone or condensed, old things were thrown away... It is amazing! Then after supper, I figured out what I was going to wear today... I didn't set it out, but everything was ready to go.

Then while my hubby was finishing things on the computer, I did a load of dishes. I didn't try to get them all done, I just did what I could in the time I had. Let me tell you, the kitchen looked so much better when we went to bed, just by doing a few dishes and wiping down the counters!

Then this morning as I was getting ready, after drying and brushing my hair, I did a quick swipe of the sink to remove the hair that always ends up there. Little things like that, taking the extra 5 seconds or maybe even a minute to do something makes such a big difference in the end. Hopefully I can remember this as things continue to stay busy!
