Baby AJ, you are 3 months old already. Okay, so a bit passed, but bear with me :D
Likes: You have found your fingers now... for sure. I often hear you noisily sucking on both your pacifier and finger at the same time, or at least your fist. I think you will end up being a thumb sucker like your big sis, but I'm okay with that. We'll figure out how to break you of it when it becomes an issue.
Dislikes: You still put up quite the fuss when being burped! Although that has been getting better recently.
Biggest Achievement this month: Smiles!
Biggest Challenge of the month: At the beginning of this month, you started to give us quite a challenge. You would get extremely fussy, wailing and screaming at the top of your lungs without any method to soothe you. I realize that many other people deal with this more frequently, but for that week, it was difficult given that it was so out of character. Unfortunately it also came shortly after you had your vaccinations this month, so I began to worry that somehow, perhaps those affected you somehow. Thankfully you came out of it and are back to your normal only semi-fussy self!
Little Personality:
Talking/Communication: Your cooing and talking have really taken off. You enjoy using the upper range of your vocal chords, giving very high and loud squeals.
Eating: We still offer about 5 ounces at each feeding. you will usually be fine with it, but occasionally want a little more or a little less. During the early and middle part of the day you will usually go 3-3.5 hours between bottles, but usually in the evenings you will want them more like 1.5-2 hours apart. Typically we give you 5 or 6 bottles in a day.
Major Milestones: Began using your bumbo seat. You enjoy sitting up and being able to chew on your hand easily.
Firsts: Halloween. We didn't get you an official costume, but we did get you a special shirt. And for the Zoo Boo, we had you dressed in your bear snow suit. Unfortunately we did not realize how big the 0-3 month size would be on you! It's like you have little flippers instead of hands.
Favorite Baby Gear: Definitely the Beco Butterfly still. Papa usually wears you in this one. I like it as well, but if I'm going to be sitting down much, I still prefer the Moby Wrap. It is more flexible for me.
Memories in the last month:
We went to a few different fall parties this month. You slept through most of them, but during a time you were awake at the first one, you enjoyed laying on a blanket with your friend.
We also went to a soup cook-off at Uncle Nate and Aunt Annie's. I took squash soup. It was my first time making it and thankfully both Papa and I enjoyed it. Not too long after that night, we were back over at their house for Halloween. We enjoyed hanging out while the older kids went trick-or-treating. The night was rainy, but at least it was warm for the kiddos.
We finished out your 2nd month by going to visit Papa's side of the family. We celebrated birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas all in one weekend. Well, I guess technically the weekend was during your 3rd month, but since I haven't updated since then, I'm including in here :)
You were finally able to meet your Aunt Bethany. She was thrilled with you! It was also nice for the others to be able to see you since it had been quite a while. Grandma was especially excited since it had been since you were just born that she had seen you in person. Unfortunately, she had a scratchy throat and didn't want to make you sick. So she did not hold you much. I think secretly Aunt Bethany was happy with that since it gave her more time to snuggle you :)
This coming month we are looking forward to seeing Mama's side of the family for Thanksgiving, and looking forward to how you continue to grow and change.
