Nov 14

Yep, totally fell off the face of the earth for a little while there.  Okay, maybe that is being a little dramatic, but it has been busy around here.  Normal busyness.  So to do a little catch up, because even though I've been busy, I've also been thankful.

Day 7 - I am thankful for my parents.
The other day, I was enjoying lunch with a fairly new friend and as we sat there eating and talking, we kept realizing how much we had in common.  One of the things we discussed was our parents.  I know that my parents will always be there for us.  I know that they pray for us and for the things going on in our lives.  My parents love their grandchildren, and have welcomed with open arms our little babes even for the short time we've had them.  I never realized how it would be difficult on them as well when X and C went home, but they bonded with the kids, loved the kids, prayed for the kids, helped take care of the kids, and it was heartbreaking for them as well when the kids left.
They help us in so many ways, be it babysitting so Tim can pick up extra hours, or helping out when our car suddenly dies.  It always makes me smile when I go to pick up J from their house after work, because my dad is always excited to show me his latest garage sale find, or wants to tell me about an article he read recently that he thought I might be interested in.  Sometimes I think his love language must be articles with the number of articles he likes to print off and share with us kids.  While it may be a small gesture, it shows that he was thinking of us.  My dad loves to help us out whenever he can.  Whether financially, or physically by loaning us what tool we need.  He's very generous with things and loves it if he can actually help us.  Sometimes I think part of the reason he keeps lots of little knicknacks is so that when we need a buckle, or a hinge, we know that we can ask him and 9 times out of 10, he'll have it and give it generously.  I feel so loved by him and love him immensely.
And my mom is so gracious with helping out with the children.  She listens to my crazy schemes and gets excited when I get excited about the kids.  Her love is less obvious, but certainly not less felt.  I can remember one time just before my birthday when I saw a cake on a magazine that had several smaller layers rather than just the two normal sized ones.  She remarked that while it looked very neat, that it would take a lot to do that.  And I wasn't even thinking at the time of requesting it, just thought it looked amazing.  A few days later when I cut into my birthday cake, I realized she had done just that with the layers.  She had taken the time and surprised me.  Something little, but it's stuck with me.  And if you can get my mom to actually laugh, you know it was a good joke.  Not that she is solemn all the time, but she doesn't outright laugh.  But that's her.  And I love her.
There are so many other things I could say about my parents.  This is just the tip of the iceburg, but hopefully gives a picture of what wonderful parents God has given me.

Day 6 - I am thankful for an opportunity to cast my vote.
Day 5 - I am thankful for my home.
Day 4 - I am thankful for a group of women at church to sing with.
Day 3 - Today I am thankful for babies.
Day 2 - I am thankful for a husband who is willing to pick up hours a work!
Day 1 - I am thankful for a job I enjoy doing.
