Our little man, X turned 2 years old a few days after he came to us. Our baby girl, C turned 4 weeks old a few days after she came to us.
Thoughts:
- Life is drastically different with kids than without kids... yeah, I know... DUH! But still, it has been a major change for us.
- I kind of wish we had waited until the semester was done. Not that I don't enjoy these kids, spending time with them, seeing them smile, taking care of them, but life is BUSY. Trying to find time in the day to keep up on school work tough!
- Two year olds are into everything! Not necessarily misbehaving, but curious about everything.
- I love snuggling baby C and realizing that for now, I don't have to give her back to her waiting mama... instead I am the waiting mama who gets to have her [almost] all to myself!
- It has been wonderful seeing my dear hubby interacting with and taking care of the kids!
- Nighttime feedings might be one of my favorite times with C [once I'm actually up and awake]. We have time, just the two of us, to snuggle, stare at each other. And I'm almost certain that the morning of her 5 week old birthday[?], she gave me a true smile!
- The first time we put a cloth diaper on X, he stared at it so quizzically. Almost like he was trying to figure out why we put "clothes" on him without his typical diaper. Cute!
- At first I thought that I would be the primary one to be doing cloth diapers... but Tim has jumped in as a willing participant and seems to be getting excited about them too. I think it helps that we are almost out of the disposable ones we were given and are suddenly looking at the price of buying them ourselves.
- I have been overwhelmed at the generosity of those around us! Clothes, diapers, money, stuff, love. It has been so humbling and I am so thankful!

So sweet!
ReplyDeleteAnd the busy/different/drastic change feelings are very normal - there will be a day soon when this new life feels so normal you will hardly be able to remember what it was life before :)
you are doing great!
I love night time feedings too! (as long as it's not too frequent, and I'm not too sleep deprived overall). But the night time feedings are sweet and special!
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad to read here that people have been generous to you! I wish I could be more generous ... if only I was around more. I'm glad to hear others are taking care of you.
I hope that the rest of this semester goes well. ...I hope it's not TOO busy for you!!
miss ya,
Say a big hi to Tim too for me (us)!!
