So long 2011! Welcome 2012!

2011 has been a tough year, and in many ways, I am extremely glad to see it go!

January - First orientation meeting for foster care.  Went home and immediately began filling out application.  Yay!
Two days later, found out we were pregnant.  Yay!
Began teaching two classes for the first time!  Yay!

February - Miscarriage.  Boo!
Then found out two weeks later our best friends were pregnant.  Really hard.  Boo!

March - Tim needed to drop a class.  Meant extending his schooling by yet another semester.  Boo!

April - My birthday.  Turned 29 years old.  Next year I will be turning 25 ; )  Yay!
Offered long term sub position at near by high school until the end of the year.  Extra income!  Yay!
Then our Subaru died.  Start looking for a new car.  Boo!

May - Bought Dodge Grand Caravan.  Red.  Love it!  Yay!
Family vacation over Memorial Day at Barakel.  Wonderful time.  Would love to do it again!  Yay!
Begin teaching summer course [drafting].  Yay!

June - Tim turns 28 years old.  Yay!
Finished long term sub position.  It was a tough position.  Thankful it was done!  Yay!
Finish 1st summer course.  Begin teaching 2nd course [math].  Absolutely enjoyed teaching my second math class.  Yay!

July - Watched fireworks with adopted family/our friends.  Ate ice cream.  Enjoyed good company.  Yay!
Tim took a motorcycle course.  He loved it!  Yay!

August - Foster Care Orientation.  Again.  This time with DHS.  Yay!
Begin running every morning.  Lasted 4 weeks, which is longer than I've ever done before.  Yay!
Went camping.  5 year anniversary!  Yay!

September - Each of us given 17 pg questionnaire to fill out for foster care.  Yay/Boo!
Started up fall semester.  Teaching 3 classes for the first time!  Two of which were brand new to me.  Yay!
Due date from pregnancy came and went.  Not going to lie... it was hard!  Boo!
Decided on getting a ring with Sapphire birthstone in memory of our first.  Got it for Christmas.  Yay!

October - Found out I didn't have insurance through the miscarriage.  Big bills!  Boo!
New "nephew" born to my cousins.  Who I get to start taking care of in January.  Yay!
New "niece" born to our best friends.  Yay!

November - Money troubles.  Boo!
Random check in the mail to help.  Yay!
Completed paperwork for foster care.  Yay!
Had initial home visit for foster care.  The house cleared with flying colors!  Yay!
Signed contracts to teach 3 classes, one of which [drafting] pays better!  Yay!

December - Marks 3 years of trying to have a baby.  Without success.  Boo!
Tim passed his class!  Yay!
Still money troubles.  Boo!
God provided additional income for next semester.  Signed contract to be a full time adjunct [means temporary] faculty member!  Yay!

Wow.  There were a lot of Yay's that happened this year... more than I first realize when I think about the year as a whole.

I guess there really is value to thinking back on how we have been blessed this year!

Lets hope 2012 brings with it even more Yay's.  Especially along the lines of completion of school, good semesters of teaching, and welcoming children into our home.
