The class I'm currently teaching at community college is the lowest one they offer... Conceptual Mathematics.
The students, while a great bunch of people who are SO appreciative for the help and education they are getting, just really struggle with how to do math.
Example of topics covered so far in class:
Place value of whole numbers (ones thru hundred millions)
Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing small and large numbers
Determining what a fraction is from a picture
Adding, subtracting, multiply and dividing fractions
So when I saw this video on facebook the other day (a friend posted it for a completely different reason) I couldn't help but grin since I could see having this exact conversation with some of my math students!
